October 24, 2005 – Union City, CA – Kinetic Systems, Inc. has been named one of the twelve safest companies in America by Occupational Hazards Magazine, an award-winning publication focusing on workplace safety, health and loss prevention. The magazine published its annual review in its October issue. Kinetics was the only company in the engineering and construction sector to be recognized, and was joined by such companies as Frito-Lay, Union Pacific, Delta Airlines and Calpine, among others, in the select group.

Josh Cable of Occupational Hazards noted “The 2005 companies are bound together by some common threads: lost-time accident or injury rates well below their respective industries’ averages; employee health and safety (EHS) programs that have earned the recognition and admiration of their industry trade associations and federal and state occupational safety and health regulators; and EHS programs built on rock-solid, fundamental concepts of occupational health and safety, such as safety committees, safety training, risk assessment and job hazard analysis, accident control and prevention, safety auditing and consistent, continuous communication and awareness-building.”

“In our organization, safety is a core value, not a priority,” reports Paul W. Thomas, P.E., Vice President of Safety for Kinetics. “The reason is that core values are permanent, but priorities change.”

Kinetics’ domestic lost-time incident rate in 2004 was 84% better than the average for the engineering and construction industry based on the most recently available U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, and so far in 2005, the Company’s lost-time incident rate is 93% better than industry average. These kinds of results have won Kinetics the highest level of safety recognition from the Mechanical Contractors Association of America in each of the last four years, and have now led to this impressive recognition by Occupational Hazards.

Gordie Beittenmiller, Kinetics’ CEO, noted “Our clients ask us to do physically challenging and complex work for them in some of the most sophisticated facilities in the world. We believe we have a fundamental obligation to our team members’ safety and well-being in doing this work. We also believe that our clients benefit from our safe practices through better-built and more quickly delivered installations, and most importantly, through greater safety for their employees and other on-site personnel.”

Beittenmiller concluded, “We appreciate this recognition from Occupational Hazards. It’s an honor that belongs to each and every one of our team members around the world who live our value of safety on every work site, every day.”
